Under Katyn, written by Danny Masewicz, has had its world premiere at The Bear Pit Theatre, Stratford upon Avon in July 2023.

 ‘Under Katyń’ is set in 1970s Stratford and is a story of relationships that develop in the historical shadow of the Katyń massacre, an extermination of 22,000 Poles by the Soviets in 1940.

‘Under Katyn’ is a tribute to Danny’s grandfather, Witold Masewicz as well as to the people of Poland, especially Eastern Poland, whose lives were torn apart but who stayed strong after the Soviet and German invasions.

The play has been produced by firstlight theatre and Copernicana CIC.  It has been generously supproted by the Polish Cultural Institute in London, Stratford Town Trust and National Remembrance Institute in Poland.
